Plastic Recycling Solutions (PRS)believessorting is the most basic — but most critical — step in reprocessing recycled plastic.
It is a recycler’s best opportunity to make sure that non-HDPE plastic contaminants are kept out of the finished resin flake.
A Superior Sorting Process
Many large post-consumer HDPE processing companies rely exclusively on machines to do their sorting. While air knives, fans, or optical sorting equipment can increase production and throughput, they also often increase polypropylene and non-HDPE contamination levels.
At Plastic Recycling Solutions (PRS) we use tumblers, shaker tables and a variety of size separation equipment to conduct an initial sort. But what really sets us apart from the competition is that every piece of plastic at our facility is hand-picked off a positive sort system. We know from experience that humans do a better job of sorting HDPE than machines.
To produce a regrind with low levels of polypropylene and other plastic contamination, PRS will ensure that every pound of plastic you buy from our grind line will have been hand-selected to create the highest quality post-consumer HDPE regrind on the market.
